New children’s book showcases Clay County K9 Lola

Clay County Sheriff Department announced a new children’s book featuring their Critical Incident Response Team K9, with Lola as the new main character. Author of “Pawsitively Lola (A Service Dog’s Adventures)” Mike Dickerson of Lathrop, tells Lola’s story about how she went from a rescue dog to a rescuer that helps people when faced with a crisis, featuring her handler, Kim Hunter. According to a recent news release, the new book about Lola is part of a three-part series set about service dogs in the Kansas City area written by Dickerson. He said, “Through word-of-mouth, I had heard about Lola’s impact on people around Kansas City; I wanted to show people what she does.” Currently, the book is available on Amazon in both hard and paperback. Dickerson is donating all proceeds from the book to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office for its nonprofit organization Helping All Lives Optimally, better known as HALO.
