DHTC’s development of the “Flats at Coach Crossing” housing development to be constructed between US 69 Highway and Tracy Avenue, has faced setbacks due to budget constraints. Melinda Mehaffy, economic development director, explained the flats are currently $1.6 million over budget due to grading issues and the cost of retaining walls. DHTC is working on identifying budgetary cuts and financial options before moving forward with construction. “We’ve been waiting on the developer, and the city is ready to move to planning and zoning for the final plat,” Mehaffy said. “However, they have pulled the plat back and are redoing it.” The city believes they won’t see the final plan before March. Mehaffy noted the city is meeting with developers on Jan. 19 to discuss the plan moving forward.
