A new weekly gathering is bringing Excelsior Springs residents together for conversation, connection and a chance to get to know one another.

The Excelsior Springs Standard recently launched Wednesday with The Standard, a weekly morning gathering that will rotate among local businesses. The inaugural event was held at Excelsior Boulangerie.

General Manager Sharon Donat explained the idea grew from a desire to create another opportunity to connect with community members outside of interviews and scheduled events.

“As a local newspaper, our job is to tell the stories of the community, and the best way to do that is by being part of it,” stated Donat. “We spend a lot of time covering meetings and events, but I wanted to create a setting where people could simply stop by, visit with us and get to know us. It also gives us the opportunity to meet people who may not attend chamber events or city meetings but still have valuable ideas, stories and perspectives to share.”
