During the coronavirus pandemic, public and private businesses are taking extreme measures to practice social distancing and following CDC recommendations to minimize health risks.

Your local newspaper is doing the same.

In this unique situation, the staff of The Excelsior Springs Standard, Richmond News and Town & Country Leader is working hard to maintain a line of communication with readers while reducing risk to employees. The offices are closed to the public, but employees are checking emails, taking phone calls and forging forward with its commitment to you.

While social media and Twitter feeds account for the sole media access for some, community members can count on this news source for accurate city, school and area stories about the community. Those services will continue.

Due to circumstances beyond control of any of us, The Excelsior Springs Standard and The Richmond News have been combined for the time being. Both staff have united to produce a combined product to be mailed every Friday. The first such product was delivered Friday, March 27. This combination is a requirement due to the reduced business and service activity in both communities.

Subscribers are encouraged to activate their online eEdition delivery service. This service delivers a digital copy of the newspaper free to subscribers every week. In the event that postal delivery is disrupted, readers will still be able to receive your weekly newspaper. Sign up by CLICKING HERE, then click on the button “Already a Print Subscriber.” This is also where readers can subscribe to the newspaper if they have not done so already.

The Town & Country Leader will continue to be delivered Wednesdays as long as the distribution channels remain unaffected. To sign up to receive the TCL free online CLICK HERE.
