With groundbreaking taking place in July 2022, the Excelsior Springs Community Center’s outdoor pool project continues. The project is expected to be completed in 2023. The new outdoor pool is an eight lane 25-yard pool, measuring larger than the existing indoor zero-depth entry activity pool. Expenses for the pool thus far is $5.6 million, with an additional $500,000 received from Clay County for stormwater work conducted at Century Park. According to Nate Williams, director of parks and recreation and community center, “The project is not yet complete, and there could be other items added.” Gains from the new pool will come from memberships that contribute to the operations of the community center. “We’ll be adding new staff to assist with operating the additional pool,” said Williams. “Currently, there are no plans to raise membership rates even though there will be an additional facility.” New mem...
