EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs High School commons will soon be quieter. ‘ The Board of Education agreed to install wood panels on the commons ceiling. Incite Design Studio LLC of Kansas City is the architect for the $62,000 project, with Newkirk Novack Construction Partners of Lenexa, Kansas, as the contractor. The commons underwent refurbishing during the summer, but, “there was just a lot of noise that echoed as a result,” prompting the installation of panels, Deputy Superintendent Jared Tomlinson said Nov. 20 by phone. The district rejected the original plan for cloth-covered baffles. “We didn’t really like that idea because they’d be hard to keep clean,” Tomlinson said.
