JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Mike Parson, often seen in public without wearing a mask, and who has refused to issue a statewide mask mandate, has tested positive for COVID-19. When asked during a press conference at the State Fair about the lack of COVID-19 prevention measures being taken by the crowd with him under a pavilion, Parson took a position in support of personal rather than social responsibility regarding care masks. “When it comes to the personal hygiene, I think everybody in here knows how important that is and then to wear a mask. We’ve always suggested, ‘Wear a mask. If you feel comfortable, wear a mask,’” Parson said. “People have the ability to make those choices. ... They understand what the risks are for their families, for their children, and you have to let people understand that they have to have that personal responsibility.
