Photojournalists spend week in Excelsior, featuring photo stories of locals

From Sept. 18 to 24, the Missouri Photo Workshop was in Excelsior Springs for the first time in the work shop’s 74-year history. The annual workshop invites 40 photojournalists from all over the country to stay in a small town in Missouri for one week, with the goal of creating a story with their photos about a subject in the town. After two years of having the workshop virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop came to Excelsior Springs to capture the lives of locals. Benjamin Fanjoy was one of the 40 photojournalists selected to spend the week in Excelsior Springs. “I really enjoyed getting away from the city of San Francisco and getting into a small town and seeing the same faces every single day and talking to them and getting to know people, learning from them and having the time to just chat with people,” said Fanjoy.
