Excelsior Springs Police Department Weekly Report (Dec. 19-Dec. 25)

4:07 a.m., 1600 block of Kearney Rd.—Officers responded on an alarm at the business. The alarm was a false alarm and nothing else was requested.

7:32 a.m., 500 block of Pierson St.—Officers responded with the ambulance on an unknown medical call at the residence by a lifeline alarm. Everything was in order and the alarm was a malfunction.

9:02 a.m., 300 block of S. Main St—An officer spoke with a party who had questions about a family matter.

10:01 a.m., 100 block of Miller Ave—Officer responded with the Department of Health and Code Enforcement to stand by while an investigation was conducted.

10:30 a.m., 200 block of E. Broadway Ave—An escort was conducted for the Finance Department.

11:27 a.m., 2000 block of Karlton Way—Officers responded with Code Enforcement on an investigation.

12:57 p.m., 100 block of Richmond St.—Officers responded to check the welfare of an elderly female. Contact was made later via telephone and the party was fine.

1:30 p.m., 400 block of S. Kansas City Ave.—Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male laying in a flower bed. The party was just using the Wi-Fi.

2:55 p.m., 900 block of St. Paul Ave.—Officers responded to a report of a juvenile threatening suicide. Contact was made with juvenile and the parents. Juvenile being taken to Excelsior Medical Center for evaluation.

3:07 p.m., 1000 block of Italian Way—Officers responded with EMS to a report of a party with psychiatric issues. Officers stood by until patient was transported.

6:28 p.m., 69 Hwy. and Cameron Rd.—Officers responded to the area at the request of MSHP to attempt to located a semi-truck involved in an accident. The truck was not located.

6:52 p.m., 100 block of E. Forest Ln.—Officers conducted a welfare check. No problems were found.

7:54 p.m., Isley Blvd. and Lovers Ln.—Catherine D Coleman, WF, 20, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia. She was booked and released with a court date.

8:06 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officer responded to contact two parties regarding a dispute over property. Officer was no longer needed upon arrival as the parties had worked it out.

8:04 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers and EMS responded to a report of a juvenile running away from relatives and threatening suicide. The juvenile was transported by ambulance for evaluation.

8:30 p.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Officers responded with EMS to a report of an unknown medical emergency. It was determined to be a misunderstanding and no care was needed.

8:44 p.m., 800 block of Williams St.—Officers responded with EMS to a report on an unresponsive party. Officers stood by while the party was evaluated.

9:45 p.m., 100 block of Northview Dr.—Officer responded to a report of a possible attempted burglary. No damage was found. Extra patrols were requested.

10:16 p.m., 200 block of Penn St.—Officers responded to the area on a report of possible gunshots. No problems were found.

10:31 p.m., 200 block of E. Broadway Ave—Officers responded to a disturbance at the business. A WM, 30, was arrested and placed on a 12-hour detox. Tyler S. McKown, WM, 27, was arrested for resisting detention and placed on a 12-hour detox.

1:38 a.m., 200 block of Dunbar Ave.—Kenneth Stieh, WM, 36 was involved in a one vehicle minor accident at the location.

5:25 a.m., Elms Blvd. and St. Louis Ave.—Officers responded in reference to two subjects yelling and screaming at each other while walking in the area. Officer contacted the subjects who advised they had a verbal disagreement and now it was solved and no further assistance was needed.

6:01 a.m., 100 block of Crown Hill Rd.—Officers responded on a business alarm. The business was secure. It appeared unsecured balloons activated the motion detector.

8:16 a.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded to stand by while a party contacted a neighbor in an attempt to recover property. The neighbor was not at home.

8:27 a.m., 600 block of Grand Ave.—A 72-hour tow sticker was placed on a vehicle parked at the corner of Grand and Northwind.

9:04 a.m., 400 block of St. Louis Ave.—Officers responded with the ambulance on an unresponsive party call. CPR was administered and the party was transport to Liberty ER.

9:08 a.m., 200 block of E. Broadway Ave.—An escort was conducted for the Finance Department.

12:59 p.m., Miller and W. Jesse James Rd.—An officer responded on a report of glass in the roadway. Upon arrival, the glass was being cleaned up by citizens.

2:52 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd—Officers responded on a report of the odor of marijuana. Nothing was located.

3:03 p.m., 2000 block of June Blvd.—Officers responded on a report of a power line down. The street was blocked off and traffic diverted pending the arrival of Ameren.

3:22 p.m., 100 block of S. Myrtle Ave—Officer responded to a report of a juvenile walking alone asking to use the restroom. No juvenile was located.

4:21 p.m., Kearny Rd. and N. Titus Ave.—Keisen A Cummins, WM, 17, Mason D. Orme, WM, 16, and Bert E. Dame, WM, 59, were involved in a minor non—injury accident.

4:34 p.m., 100 block of Dunbar Ave.—Hanna R. Hays, WF, 17, was arrested for trespassing. She was booked and released with a court date. A WF, 15, was detained and released to a parent. Information forwarded to Clay County Juvenile Division.

4:31 p.m., 400 block of Bluff Ave.—Francis J. Wesely Jr., WM, 60, reported a residential burglary. The investigation continues.

7:33 p.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Kerissa N. Hoover, WF, 24, was arrested for stealing and possession of a controlled substance. She was booked and released with a court date.

7:50 p.m., 500 block of St. Louis Ave.—Officers responded to a report of a party not allowed to be on the property and refusing to leave. The party had left prior to officers’ arrival. The party was contacted and advised not to return to the business.

8:34 p.m., 69 Hwy. and 92 Hwy.—Officers responded to the area on a report of a possibly intoxicated driver that failed to yield to Lawson PD. The vehicle was not located.

9:42 p.m., 200 block of Lodwick Ln.—Officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Parties had separated prior to officers’ arrival. Nothing further was requested.

 

Thursday, December 21, 2017

1:10 a.m., 92 Hwy. and Isom Rd.—Officers responded to the area in reference to another agency being in pursuit entering our city. Officers assisted in the pursuit after the other agency stopped, and we terminated the pursuit when it left the city limits. Some items were recovered as they were thrown out of the vehicle during the pursuit.

2:24 a.m., 200 block of N. Jesse James Rd.—Officers were dispatched in reference to two vehicles sitting in the area and might be doing a drug exchange. Officers were advised the vehicles left the area and we did not need to respond any longer.

9:40 a.m., 2000 block of Karlton Way—Officers were given information on an eviction service.

10:11 a.m., 100 block of S. Myrtle Ave.—Officer stood by while the Children’s Division conducted an investigation.

10:37 a.m., 700 block of Roosevelt Ave.—Officer responded to check on a wire which had been caught by a passing truck and was hanging low. Wires appeared to be cable and MediaCom was advised.

11:18 a.m., Seybold Rd. and N Hwy.—Tylor Mountenay, WM, 19, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and careless and imprudent driving. He was booked and incarcerated. Bond is set at $250.

12:10 p.m., 200 block of Fine St.—Beverly McCormack, WF, 28, reported money had been stolen from her apartment.

1:43 p.m., 69 Hwy. and Cameron Rd.—Officer watched for a vehicle reported to be driving carelessly and speeding. The vehicle was not located.

1:46 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded on a report of the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. Officers made contact with the resident. There was no odor or evidence of marijuana use.

2:23 p.m.—200 block of E. Broadway Ave.—An escort was completed for the Finance Department.

2:49 p.m., 200 block of Fine St.—Animal control responded on a failure to restrain complaint.

3:23 p.m., 900 block of Isley Blvd.—An officer responded to a report of two juveniles running out into traffic trying to sell hot chocolate. The officer counseled them to be safe.

3:35 p.m., 2300 block of Vintage Dr.—An officer unlocked a vehicle.

3:44 p.m., 1700 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded with the ambulance on a report of a disoriented party.

4:44 p.m., Isley Blvd. and Temple Ave.—Officers responded to a report of a driver swerving all over the roadway. Officers check the area and had negative contact with that vehicle.

7:05 p.m., 100 block of Crown Hill Rd.—Officers responded to a report of an alarm. An employee accidently tripped alarm.

7:51 p.m., Persimmon Dr. and Dunbar Ave.—An officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. No vehicle was found.

8:30 p.m., 1000 block of Italian Way—Officers responded to a report of an alarm. An employee accidently tripped alarm.

10:24 p.m., 1000 block of N. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded on a business alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.

11:58 p.m., 400 block of St. Louis Ave.—Officers responded on a business alarm at the location. The building was secured and everything appeared in order.

2:13 a.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Officer responded in reference to several juveniles causing problems inside the store. The parents were contacted and responded to the area and took possession of the juveniles for the night.

2:38 a.m., 2000 block of Kimberly Dr.—Officer responded in reference to a strange vehicle in the driveway and someone knocking on her door. Officer checked the area and the vehicle was already gone from the area and everything appeared in order.

8:30 a.m., 2200 block of Happy Ln.—An officer responded with EMS on an unknown medical emergency. The officer stood by until no longer needed.

8:45 a.m., 100 block of Easy St.—Officers responded on a report of an open door at a vacant residence. Contact was made with a party inside who was awaiting the arrival of an exterminator. Nothing further was requested.

9:34 a.m., 200 Fine St.—Animal Control Officer contacted a party regarding a loose canine. The canine was secured by the owner.

9:54 a.m., 300 block of Waller Ave.—Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving two parties trying to enter a residence. It was determined to be a civil matter and the parties were advised of their options.

10:33 a.m., 69 Hwy. and Cameron Rd.—Officer responded to a report of a careless driver. The vehicle was located and no violations were observed.

11:58 a.m., 500 block of Tiger Dr.—Officers responded to a report of a juvenile being chased by an unknown party near the business. The juvenile and her parent were contacted.

12:32 p.m., US 69 Hwy. and McCleary Rd.—Angela O’Dell, WF, 41, and Kiara Davidson, WF, 18, were involved in a non-injury accident.

1:30 p.m., 200 block of E. Broadway Ave.—An escort was conducted for the finance department.

1:34 p.m., S. Titus Ave. and Kearney Rd.—An officer responded to a report of tents observed near a residence. It was determined they were tarps that were covering property.

2:13 p.m., 69 Hwy. and Patsy Ln.—William A. Knutter, WM, 43, and Kaitlyn R. Goodnight, WF, 20, were involved in a non-injury traffic accident.

2:32 p.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Magen M. Coursen, WF, 30, was arrested for stealing. She was booked and released on her own recognizance with a court date.

3:15 p.m., 1500 block of Tracy Ave.—Kevin E. Carr, WM, 48, was arrested on a Clay County fail to appear warrant with $250 cash only bond. He was released to Clay County deputy.

3:41 p.m., 600 block of Park Ave—ACO responded to the address to check the welfare of a canine. A notice was left at the residence.

4:26 p.m., 69 Hwy. and Patsy Ln.—Officer responded to the area on a report of a suspicious vehicle. The area was checked, but the vehicle was not located.

6:07 p.m., 200 block of E. Broadway Ave.—Robert J. Martinez, WM, 48, was arrested on an Excelsior Springs warrant for failure to appear for driving while revoked, illegal plates, improper display, and fail to appear with bond of $500 cash only.

7:08 p.m., 2200 block of Larkspur—Officers responded to the residence with EMS on a report of a party having a psychiatric issue. The party was transported to the hospital.

7:43 p.m., 100 block of Temple Ave.—Officer took a report for vandalism.

9:04 p.m., Superior St. and Park Ave.—Officers responded to the area on a report of a disturbance. Nothing was seen or heard. Negative contact was made at the residence.

9:23 p.m., 1200 block of Curtis Ave.—Officers responded to the residence in reference to a perform a welfare check on someone. Officers arrested a WM, 26, for possession of controlled substance and marijuana. Several other subjects were issued citations for narcotics and released at the scene.

10:31 p.m., 1700 block of Rainbow Blvd.—Officer responded to the Medical Center on a report of a combative patient. Officer stood by until no longer needed.

11:39 p.m., 1700 block of Rainbow Blvd.—Officer requested an information report for an incident which occurred at the hospital.

Saturday, December 23, 2017

12:13 a.m., 200 block of Dunbar Ave.—Officer responded on a report of someone falling down the stairs at the residence. Officer stood by until no longer needed by the ambulance.

1:10 a.m., 2000 W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded with the fire department on a possible structure fire at the location. The fire alarm was an apparent alarm malfunction and officers stood by until no longer needed.

1:23 a.m., 1000 block of W. Forest Ln.—Officer responded on a report of someone yelling and screaming in the area. Officer contacted a WF, 23, who was very intoxicated and causing problems. She was detained for 12 hours detoxification.

1:23 a.m., 100 block of Thompson Ave.—Officer responded on a report of a subject laying in the roadway. Officer contacted a subject who had fallen and injured himself. Officer stood by until the ambulance responded and transported the subject to Liberty Hospital.

5:55 a.m., 500 block of Pierson St.—Officers responded with EMS to a medical alert pendant. It was determined to have been accidentally pushed and no care was needed.

9:04 a.m., 500 block of S. Kansas City Ave.—Officer responded to a parking complaint involving a vehicle blocking a driveway. The owner was contacted, agreed to move the vehicle and was issued a parking citation.

12:17 p.m., NE 152nd St and Salem Rd.—Officer responded to a report of a careless driver. The vehicle was located parked at a residence.

1:29 p.m., 600 block of Tiger Dr.—Officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm. The building was found secure.

8:18 p.m., Isley Blvd. and Regent Ave.—A WM, 49, was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, and illegal plates.

8:40 p.m., 1000 Magnolia West Ave.—Officer responded to the area on a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located and nothing suspicious was found.

11:43 p.m., 69 Hwy. and Patsy Ln.—Officers responded on a report of a vehicle going north bound in the south bound lane of 69 Hwy. Officers checked the area and no vehicle was located.

3:34 a.m., 200 block of Miller Ave—Officers responded on a report of an intoxicated male party that was a friend of his roommates. He was advised it was a civil matter.

8:56 a.m., 700 block of N. Marietta St.—Dixie Shelton, WF, 43, was involved in a minor accident when her vehicle slid into a fence.

9:56 a.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—An officer provided a vehicle unlock.

11:03 a.m., 69 Hwy. and Vintage Dr.—John Smith, WM, 18, was involved in a non-injury accident when his vehicle drove off the roadway.

11:12 a.m., 500 block of Summit St.—An officer spoke with a party via telephone regarding harassment and civil issues. She was advised of her options.

11:23 a.m., 69 Hwy. and McCleary Rd.—Aaron Stafford, WM, 34, and Jacob Carr, WM, 17, were involved in a minor non-injury accident.

11:50 a.m., Rowell Ave. and Milwaukee St.—Officer responded to check on a vehicle which reportedly had been broken down on the side of the roadway for several months. Contact was made with the owner and the vehicle was properly parked. Nothing further was requested.

2:00 p.m., 900 block of Isley Blvd.—An officer provided a vehicle unlock.

2:57 p.m., 700 block of Bell Dr.—Myles Casey, WM, 20, and Larry Oliphant, WM, 37, were involved in a minor non-injury accident.

4:17 p.m., 2000 block of W. Jesse James Rd.—Officers responded to a report of a disturbance that had occurred with one party trying to harm another with a vehicle. Both parties were contacted. The victim did not wish to assist with prosecution.

5:06 p.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Officers responded to a stealing at Walmart which had just occurred. The party was not located. The investigation continues.

6:12 p.m., 2200 block of Patsy Ln.—Officer unlocked a vehicle for a party.

7:51 p.m., 300 block of S. Main St.—Officer stood by to keep the peace for a custody exchange.

9:45 p.m., Old Orchard Ave and Cypress—Officer responded to a parking complaint. The vehicle owner was contacted and agreed to move the vehicle.

10:00 p.m., 700 block of Isley Blvd.—Officers responded to a report of a domestic assault. The parties had separated prior to officers’ arrival. Information was taken for a report and a signed complaint was taken.

11:08 p.m., 14000 block of Salem Rd.—Officers assisted Clay County in locating a male party who had been in an accident on Salem Rd. The party was located and turned over to Clay County.

 

Monday, December 25, 2017

10:41 a.m., 100 block of Richmond St.—Officer responded in reference to a stray canine running in the area and barking at other canines in the area. Officers were unable to catch the canine and did not think the canine would bother anyone.

11:47 a.m., 100 block of Highland Park—Officer contacted a WF in reference to a sexual assault which occurred. Investigation continues.

2:26 p.m., 1800 block of Wornall Rd.—Officer assisted a subject with getting into her vehicle.

3:21 p.m., 100 block of Easy St.—Officers responded with medics to a report of a nonresponsive male with diabetic issues. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.

5:42 p.m., 500 block of Summit St.—Officers responded to a report of a female subject trying to get medicine for her sister. They were nervous to go inside with the male subject that lives there. The parties were advised of their options.

5:54 p.m., 300 block of S. Kansas City Ave.—Officer responded to a report of a domestic assault happening in the apartment below them. A BM, 62 left the residence and a 12-hour rule was put in place.

6:45 p.m., 700 block of Tiger Dr.—Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between mother and son. Argument was verbal only; mother and son were advised of their options.

6:49 p.m., Isley Blvd. and S. Francis St.—An officer responded to a report of a traffic accident. The parties involved, Leslie A. Schraufek, WF, 49, Steven F. Farris, WM, 29, and Steven R. Farris, WM, 47, had no injuries. A report was taken.

10:26 p.m., Wornall Rd. and Titus Ave.—Officers responded to the area on a report of a suspicious party. The party was gone prior to officer’s arrival.
