Excelsior teen seriously injured in crash

July 3, 2018 – An Excelsior teenager suffered serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday, July 1.

Makayla R. Brewer, 17, was driving a Ford Focus westbound on State Route PP, just east of Holt. She lost crossed the center line coming around a curve, and struck an oncoming vehicle. The second vehicle, a Dodge Durango, was driven by 39-year-old Patricia Newcomer of Lawson.

Brewer was taken to Liberty Hospital by Holt Fire Department, with injuries the Missouri State Highway Patrol described as serious.  Newcomer also received transport by Holt Fire to Liberty following the accident, with injuries described as minor.

Brewer’s car came to rest on its wheels, facing northwest. The second car also came to rest on its wheels, facing east.

The accident occurred at 8:35 a.m. The crash was assisted by Sgt. L.M. Newman and Clinton County Sheriff”s Office.
