Two area teens injured in crash: Missouri State Highway Patrol Report

June 8, 2018 – Two 16-year-olds sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Clay County on Friday, June 1. The crash occurred at 7:40 p.m. at Lacy Rd. and Silvey Rd.

Vanessa J. Drake, of Excelsior Springs, was backing up northbound, then began traveling westbound from Cliff St. onto Silvey Rd. where she was struck by a vehicle driven by Nicole E. Francken, of Lawson. Drake’s vehicle continued off the left side of the roadway where it struck a tree.

Jocilyn B. Williams, 16, of Lawson, was a passenger in Francken’s 2015 Kia Sorento. Both Francken and Williams were transported by private party to Excelsior Springs Hospital with minor injuries.

Drake’s 2001 Ford Escort sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene by Shoemaker’s Tow. The Sorento driven by Francken had minor damage and was disposed by Tyler’s Tow.

The crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Tpr. Cunningham and assisted by Ray County Sheriff’s Department.

The MSHP reported two arrests of local residents in Ray County.

On Saturday, June 2, Nicholas T. Burks, was arrested at 9:18 p.m., processed and released. Burks, 28, of Excelsior Springs, faces five violations to include driving while intoxicated, no registration, no insurance, no seatbelt and providing alcohol to a minor.

On Tuesday, June 5, Andrew C. Schreier, 25, of Richmond, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. and released on five violations that include: felony leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, felony possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, careless and imprudent driving involving a motor vehicle crash and driving while revoked.
