A Polo resident has been ordered to appear in Ray County Court for a preliminary hearing in the case of felony abuse or neglect of a child. The court has ordered Melynda M. Casey, 47, to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on March 19 for a preliminary hearing. “A preliminary hearing is when the State proceeds under a felony complaint, the associate circuit judge hears evidence against the defendant in order to determine whether there is enough evidence or probable cause to proceed with the charges,” according to the University of Missouri. According to reports, Casey’s juvenile child ran away from home after an argument on June 12. The child was found the next day at Walmart in Richmond and was transported to Synergy Services. In an emergency forensic interview by Rachel Field, MRS disclosed that she ran away after an argument with Casey over electronic chargers.
