Price Chopper preps for $3.2 million renovation

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Price Chopper is about to get an estimated $3.2 million remodel over the next 12 months. The Excelsior Springs City Council gave city approval for the work Monday. Rich Woods and Joel Riggs, representatives of Price Chopper, presented to the council their plan to form a 1645 Kearney Road Community Improvement District, or CID, during a public hearing held by the council. This CID will cover the existing Price Chopper property and will collect an additional 1% sales tax at the grocery store to help fund work related to the project. Key elements of the remodel will include redevelopment of the structure into a modern concept of McKeever’s Price Chopper grocery store and site improvements.
