Public Works plans springtime work on North Jesse James Road

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Area residents can expect to see changes to North Jesse James Road next year. The City Council earmarked roughly $1 million for the road. Excelsior Springs Public Works Director Chad Birdsong said he expects to start construction in the spring. “I would imagine it’ll take probably 30 to 45 days for (the) engineering design to be complete,” Birdsong said in September. “Then, we’ll go out to do the bid process.” Birdsong said one part of the plan is to convert part of the road from a dead-end street into a cul-de-sac and extend the road by “a couple-hundred feet,” he said. The driveway for Miller’s Custom Cabinets, 1403 N. Jesse James, “will tie on to that” extension, Birdsong said. Fix-up work is planned at the North Jesse James-Meadowlark Lane intersection. “It’s a … right-out intersection only onto Jesse James, which is a headache,” Birdsong said. “So it cleans up that whole intersection there.” The road north from Meadowlark-North Jesse James will be…
