Raytown administrator to lead Excelsior schools

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Raytown School District’s assistant superintendent of support services, Dr. Travis Hux, will serve as the new Excelsior Springs School District superintendent. School Board President Tray Harkins confirmed the board’s Dec. 14 decision. “It’s all said and done now,” he said Friday. For Raytown, Hux oversees operations departments – facilities, grounds, food services, transportation, safety, energy management and liability/property/casualty insurance. He has served in the job since July 2009. Prior to Raytown, Hux served for three years as an assistant director for human resources; a year as a junior high assistant principal in St. Clair, and three years as an assistant elementary school principal in Charleston.  Although Hux has not held the top spot for a district or a school, Harkins said the board believed Hux would be a good fit. “The board felt his energy and drive was what we were looking for to help us continue to grow,” Harkins said. “For me, it was his…
