Residents’ mail delivery to change due to safety concerns

Postal employees continue to experience safety issues during mail delivery in the Wood Heights area, according Excelsior Springs Post Office City letter carrier Kyle Slusher, who addressed the problem with a letter sent to homes along the delivery route.
Mail delivery and pickup ceased for a period of time following an incident which involved a postal worker. The postal carrier was allegedly approached by resident Lanny Holman, 62, who was holding a BB gun and claiming he was using the gun to shoot at cats on his property.
Holman was charged with felony – first-degree harassment. He is currently out of jail, having posted the $5,000 bond set by Ray County Judge Lori Baskins. His next hearing is 9:30 a.m. Tuesday March 21, at Ray County Circuit Court Division.
