SAFE coalition discusses new possibilities for youth

A new youth program focused on drug prevention and mental health, titled The Possibility Project, was the topic of discussion during a recent meeting between Youth Prevention Media Specialist Jonathan Ridgeway from Tri-County Mental Health and the Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse-Free Environments (SAFE) coalition. Created by Limerent Communications in Portland Oregon and designed especially for Excelsior Springs, the project is funded through the Clay County Children’s Fund Grant. In Sept. 2021, Limerent Communications surveyed Excelsior Springs middle and high schools, evaluating what Excelsior Springs needed in regards to drug prevention and mental health. Recently launched locally, the project is designed as a student-involved club comprised of youth who can share ways to develop high self-efficacy and mental health coping skills with their peers.
