EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs SAFE, or Substance Abuse Free Environments, Coalition seeks Community Champion awards program nominations.

The program is designed to educate the community about the importance of 40 developmental assets in a child’s experience to assure the child thrives throughout life.

Each award focuses on a specific asset. For December, SAFE seeks nominations to recognize an Excelsior Springs adult who encourages youth to care about their school and education.

Additional information, as well as a nomination form for the Community Champion Awards program, are available at www.excelsiorspringssafe.com/ community-champion. The deadline for submission is Dec. 30.

Excelsior Springs SAFE is a coalition of volunteers from every sector of the community dedicated to creating a safe, healthy environment in which youth can thrive, support information states.

The coalition has been awarded a federal grant to support prevention work and is provided administrative support from Tri-County Mental Health Services.
