With the 2023-24 school year right around the corner, Excelsior Springs School District Deputy Superintendent Mark Bullimore shared safety measures and transportation information for Lewis Elementary School students attending school at a new location when school starts on Aug. 23. With the ongoing demolition and rebuild of Lewis Elementary School, Lewis’s students will attend the current Excelsior Springs Early Childhood Center, better known as the former Westview Elementary School. Bullimore said the youngest students will attend class within the main building while older students will be in learning trailers adjacent to the building. Safety is at the forefront for those students attending school in the adjacent trailers, including security. “All the trailers will be secured with locks,” said Bullimore.
