The Excelsior Springs Aging Well Task Force is working towards securing Saturday transportation and field trip options for seniors within the community. Brian Rice, chamber director and task force committee member, explained that with the ongoing struggle to secure Saturday transportation in the community, the Chamber of Commerce’s trolley may be an option. The biggest hang-up utilizing the trolley, according to Rice, is the anxiety that surrounds the large vehicles. “We talked about trying to lower social anxiety,” he said. Rice would like to set aside some time on Saturdays for those who need transportation to view the trolleys and shuttles by walking outside and inside the vehicle while having an opportunity to meet and speak with the drivers to lower concerns and anxieties. “The chamber’s Westside Community Improvement District is going to have some marketing and promotional funds coming in through sales tax,” said Rice, implying the funding can be utilized toward this added…
