School debriefs after intruder incident

After a recent intruder scare at Missouri City Public School, Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Lieutenant Scott Archer shared his knowledge in handling this type of situation with Missouri City Public Schools. Archer provided a debrief and updated training information to school staff. The debrief consisted of checking the wellbeing of staff and having a conversation about what happened, as well as what did and didn’t work. “It is good to let everyone speak about the incident from their perspective as well,” Archer explained. “Vantage points and experiences of what happened all differ and staff needs to understand each other’s involvement.” Debrief is also used to adjust intruder policies or plans if necessary.
