School districts adjust to end of school year
RICHMOND – Anyone with a high school diploma, or a diploma from the school of hard knocks, could read the writing on the wall.
After schools closed earlier this month, they would not reopen.
They simply could not.
The peak of the coronavirus is not expected to come in Missouri until mid-May, and that is when the school year ends for many districts. In addition, reaching the peak does not mean the virus is over, only that it is leaving, which could take several more weeks.
Last week, the state declared the obvious, and area school districts are adjusting to news that the 2019-20 school year is over, at least as far as being in school buildings.
