Seniors, others receive help at Good Samaritan

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – “As we all know, the COVID pandemic affected the seniors the worst, followed by the homeless population,” Good Samaritan Center Emergency Assistance Coordinator Jennifer Chappel stated. The center worked to help people during the crisis, Chappel stated. “Good Samaritan Center of Excelsior Springs was one of the many agencies trying to stay on top of the needs in the community. They serve all of Ray County and northern rural Clay,” she stated. “One of the largest demographics they serve (involves) those that are 60 and older.” The center offers multiple services to help the seniors stay in their own residences for as long as they can. If the time comes where they cannot, the center helps make the hard decisions and is available to make sure the older residents’ needs are met. “Oftentimes, our clients come in for help with something as simple as needing help with pet food.
