Sheriff pledges to increase women’s representation

Clay County Sheriff Will Akin signed the 30x30 pledge to increase the representation of women in law enforcement, becoming the first Sheriff’s Department in Missouri to participate in this initiative. It is only the third law enforcement in the state that has committed to a series of low and no cost actions to bring more women into policing. “This pledge means the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is actively working toward improving the representation of women deputies in our agency,” Sheriff Akin said. “We are honored to be among the first in Missouri to make this critical commitment, and we look forward to working with and learning from agencies across the country who share our priority.” Before the letter of intent to participate in 30x30, Akin first met with current female deputies to get their feelings on the matter.
