Short-term rental guidelines discussed
A public hearing was held by the Excelsior Springs Planning and Zoning Commission to discuss the possibility of amending ordinance 400.230 regarding special use permit regulations for shortterm rentals.
Doug Hermes, city planning consultant, presented the commission with revisions for the ordinance, including specific guidelines. He explained the new parameters would now allow more lenient standards for short-term rentals in tourist locations such as the central business district in downtown Excelsior Springs.
The new revisions for short-term rentals, according to Hermes, are split among the downtown tourist boundary, including the Isely district and the region outside of that district, such as residential areas throughout the rest of the community.
