St. John, others call for celebrating more ES milestones
Excelsior Springs will celebrate more personal and business milestones, if Councilman Reggie St. John has his say.
Near the end of the City Council meeting Monday night at the Hall of Waters, St. John mentioned two recent 50-year celebrations – one of them for an individual, the other for a business. The business in question was the Chuck Anderson Ford dealership.
St. John recommended having regular milestone celebrations to honor “those folks that make this town unique.”
“In final analysis, that’s what … Excelsior Springs is about,” St. John commented. “It’s about people who’ve been here for a while and … (made) it what it is. And to be able to witness that and live part of that history, one of the benefits (of) being old is to see those things.”
Mayor Mark Spohn, Councilwoman Sonya Morgan and Mayor Pro Tem Stephen Spear agreed. Honoring businesses with longevity is particularly important, Spear suggested.
