State grant to boost deputy salaries, benefits
Dozens of Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies could receive additional salary and benefit funding through a newly approved state grant.
The Clay County Commission recently approved acceptance of the Missouri Deputy Sheriff Supplementation Fund grant, which will provide additional salary and benefit funding for qualifying commissioned personnel.
The grant will provide $192,000 in annual salary supplements and $66,816 in associated benefits, bringing the total award to $258,816 for 63 qualifying commissioned personnel.
“The Missouri Deputy Sheriff Supplemental Fund is something that’s not new to Clay County,” stated CCSO Major Jon Bazzano. “I believe we utilized this funding from 2012 to about 2017.”
The amount each qualifying deputy receives will depend on annual salary. Deputies earning less than $31,200 will receive a $6,800 annual supplement, while those earning between $31,201 and $35,000 will receive an amount sufficient to bring their annual salary to $38,000. Deputies earnin…
