An Excelsior Estates structural fire is under investigation for “suspicious circumstances,” according to Lawson Fire Chief Gene Nolker. A structure fire near 16353 Bob Drive in Excelsior Estates was reported to Lawson Fire Department (LFD) from Ray County Dispatch around 11:58 p.m. Saturday, May 20. Upon arrival on the scene, it was determined a vacant trailer was fully engulfed in flames. “It was a structure that had been vacant for a considerable amount of time. While we don’t have much to go on, we are looking further for leads,” said Nolker. For assistance at the scene, LFD enlisted the help of Ray County Ambulance District, Wood Heights Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department and Excelsior Springs Fire Department.
