Tackett enters not guilty plea

Gary Dean Tackett Jr. pled not guilty to several charges, including statutory sodomy, during an arraignment hearing this week. The 38-yearold Excelsior Springs resident, who is being held on a $100,000 cash only bond, is charged with two felonies including: statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy, deviate sexual intercourse, person less than 12 years of age; and child molestation, fourth degree, child less than 17 years of age and offender greater than four years older. Tackett appeared before 7th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen Krauser earlier this week via video within 48 hours of his arrest and was read the complaint, information and indictment. He was advised pursuant the right to retain counsel, right to remain silent, that any statement made may be used against him and the right to apply for Public Defender.
