Excelsior Springs City Council members recently approved two Chapter 353 tax abatements supporting commercial and residential redevelopment projects.

The first is for improvements to a two-story commercial property at 109 East Broadway Avenue.

Becky Treccariche and James Mc-Carty/ McParty’s Basement LLC applied for the abatement for a project with approximately $32,699 in projected expenditures. The scope of work includes interior and exterior painting, plumbing, electrical work, bathroom renovations, masonry work, window, door and deck replacement, and moving the HVAC unit to the roof.

The project qualifies for up to 10 years of 100% tax abatement or until the cost of the improvements is reached, whichever occurs first. City documents state remediation of all blight must be confirmed before the final application for abatement is approved.
