Three vie for two school board seats
Three candidates have qualified for the Excelsior Springs Board of Education, competing for two available seats in the April 8 election.
The candidates are Anna Sue Spohn, incumbent Kalyn Goode
and incumbent and current board president Tray Harkins.
Spohn, 67, is a longtime resident of Excelsior Springs. She graduated from North Kansas City High School and has completed some college and trade school coursework. Spohn has been self-employed since 1986 and brings more than 40 years of experience in sales and marketing.
Goode is a small business owner in Excelsior Springs and has served two consecutive terms, totaling six years, on the Excelsior Springs Board of Education. She is seeking re-election and continues to be active in various community committees and events.
Harkins, with multiple years of board experience, continues to serve in a leadership capacity and is seeking to remain in his role to support ongoing district initiatives.
