A new clothing store recently opened on Broadway that features new and pre-loved clothing for everyone in the Excelsior Springs community.

Mother and daughter duo Robin Curfman and Trenity Taylor said they decided to open Trendy You after deciding Excelsior residents needed a place to shop for affordable clothing for the entire family.

“We will be selling new and pre-loved clothing from baby to plus size, boy, girl, men and women,” they said. “Our goal is to carry nice name brand clothing that everyone can afford.”

This new venture came from a desire to provide affordable clothing in a setting that did not resemble a garage sale, Curfman said. The duo, who pride themselves on their thrifty shopping skills, have accumulated their inventory through sale racks and purchasing gently worn clothing. The community can bring their pre-loved name brand clothing to their location from Tuesdays-Fridays. Taylor will be on hand during those times to evaluate the clothing. Curfman said they cannot buy everything, but they will buy from the community to add to their inventory.

The mother and daughter said they have been thinking about entering into a business venture for a long time. They said this thought came from noticing a lack of clothing options for some members of the community.

“If you really think about it, in town, they have these great boutiques, but they’re just for women,” Curfman said. “There’s nowhere affordable for everybody and there’s not a lot of places for men and children.”

The store will feature clothing sized newborn to plus sized.

Curfman said they’ve encountered support from the downtown community.

“Everybody down here has been so supportive,” she said.

Taylor said after beginning a Facebook page, she noticed many in the community seem excited about the new venture.

“People seem excited about it,” she said.

Trendy You, located at 106 E. Broadway, will open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesdays-Wednesdays and from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Thursdays-Saturdays.
