The Clay County court has taken a step forward in seeking justice for the victims of a tragic Excelsior Springs double murder. A trial date has been set for Keith Bass, 50, of Belton, who stands accused of four felonies. Bass is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. With his public defender, Tracy A. McFadin, by his side, Bass appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Timothy J. Flook last week for a trialsetting hearing. Clay County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Angela Ravkin and McFadin agreed five days would be needed to complete the trial and Judge Flook ordered it to begin at 9 a.m. on October 27, 2025. Pre-trial motions will take place at 1:30 p.m. on September 30, 2025. “Both parties are reminded that the court will not take up any pretrial motions on the date the trial begins,” said Judge Flook.
