Two dead after fatal vehicle accident

Two Excelsior Springs residents lost their lives last week after a fatal motor vehicle accident near Route M, 0.2 miles north of Route U. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Investigators Trooper I.L Kimball and MSHP Sergeant H.A. Sears who reported Michael J. Christie, 51, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 with passenger Jeffery S. Coleman, 49, when he crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 1998 Kenworth Semi Tractor head-on. Christie and Coleman were pronounced dead on the scene at 7:25 p.m. by Ray County Medical Examiner Beau Minson. The driver of the tractor, Lance C. Adams, 21, was taken to Truman Medical Center with serious injuries. There is no update on Adams’s current medical condition as of press time. Both vehicles were totaled and taken to Shoemaker Tow.
