EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Board of Education approved two measures to spruce up the Excelsior Springs Early Childhood Center, or ECC. During the April 12 meeting, the board approved a request submitted by Superintendent Dan Hoehn to buy supplies, priced at $42,147. The supplies will be used to fix the center’s roof. The bid for the work came from Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. of Beachwood, Ohio. The district will use income derived from the sale of Proposition T tax bonds approved by voters to cover the costs, Hoehn told district leaders. Supplies for the roof work include 10 rolls of fleece back membranes, priced at $18,965. Fleece back membranes are a relatively new type of single-ply roofing system, which is used commonly by the roofing industry, based on information published by commercial roofing companies.
