Valley Manor Nursing Home reopens
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Following a precautionary setback, Valley Manor Nursing Home reopened to the public Monday, Administrator Doreen Hasenbeck said.
After being closed by COVID-19 a year earlier, the facility reopened briefly only to shut down after two days because a resident tested “positive” for the virus.
“We ended up isolating her for 14 days. We have to count it as a COVID positive case; however, every entity that we have spoken to feels like it was a false positive, but we could not definitely prove that,” Hasenbeck said. “It would have been better if we could have definitely proved (a false positive). She hasn’t had any signs or symptoms and we’ve done three different tests, and two of them proved to be negative, and one proved to be positive. We have to go by the lab test, and the lab test is the one that was positive.”
