Virus numbers continue to climb
WASHINGTON – New coronavirus deaths and cases continue across the nation and state.
On Wednesday, the national death toll passed the 83,000 mark, with more than 1.4 million infections recorded, based on information compiled by Johns Hopkins University and Medicine, and posted on the Coronavirus Resource Center site.
Missouri has reported more than 10,000 cases and 524 deaths.
The Northland section of the Kansas City area – consisting of Platte, Clay and Ray counties – when taken together, account for more than 150 coronavirus cases and one death, center information states.
Platte County is listed as having 45 cases and no deaths; Clay County, 96 cases and one death, with more cases and one death attributed to the Kansas City portion of Clay County; and Ray County has 12 cases and no deaths, with the Ray County Health Department taking the position there have been 11 cases and no deaths.
Kansas City south of the Missouri River reports 402 cases and 16 deaths.
