VOLUNTEERS STEP UP TO PUT DOWN CORONAVIRUS

ST. LOUIS – The Parson administration is recruiting inactive medical professionals to help combat COVID-19, which could mean asking retirees to reenter an environment known to be more dangerous to older people. But that is not stopping them from agreeing to help meet medical needs, including special teams that answered the call for help in Warrensburg and Clinton. Parson’s communication director, Kelli R. Jones, said precautions are being taken to protect those who step up, she said. “There would probably be opportunities for (older people) to assist, maybe not right on the front line,” she said. State numbers continue to rise daily. Missouri’s projected peak date for deaths from the virus is May 21, based on information from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. Following the peak date, the end of the virus may not be seen for several additional weeks, with total Missouri deaths projected at 1,290 by Aug. 4. The numbers are growing…
