Voters pass Prop T, elect candidates

LIBERTY – A light turnout decided elections in Clay and Ray counties. Clay County election officials posted that 12.28%, or 20,535 people, cast ballots in the county, down by nearly 5 percentage points vs. 2019, when nearly 17% of registered voters cast ballots. In Ray County’s municipal elections last year, 18.16% of voters, or 2,773 people, voted. The total fell this year by nearly 8 percentage points to a 10.55% turnout, or 1,713 people voting. Major differences between voting this and last year are that April voting moved to June due to the coronavirus, and some people may have remained concerned about contracting the virus at the polls. CLAY COUNTY These results are for candidates and issue of importance in Excelsior Springs... • Prop T passed 1,882 to 539, taking 77.7% of the vote.
