Warner takes seat on housing authority board

Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD) Capt. Robert Warner was sworn in to the appointed seat on the board of the local housing authority. The 14-year veteran of the ESPD took the oath of office during the March 20 Excelsior Springs City Council meeting with the group unanimously approving the appointment. After being approached by ESPD Chief Gregory Dull, Warner agreed to take a seat on the board, saying he “wanted to be able to help out.” With a master’s degree and an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri, Warner has held many positions during his years with ESPD. The captain served as a K9 officer for three years before being promoted to the position of patrol sergeant for nine years. He later became a firearms instructor and was promoted to patrol commander for one year before being promoted to his current position of deputy chief. “Having a police presence on the board is very helpful,” Mayor Sharon Powell said when thanking the new board member. …
