Waterfest will be rescheduled once again. This time, the festival has been moved to June 25-26, 2021. The current health and business climate helped the committee make that determination.
“The Waterfest Committee on Friday, June 19 decided that the sponsorships, financial contributions and volunteer work needed to host a festival of this size would be too much of a strain on our local businesses,” Chairperson Brian Rice said. “The whole point of a festival and the Chamber of Commerce is to help our business community, not burden it.”
With the blessing of the Chamber Board of Directors, the committee will now focus its plans on the 2021 date. The extra time will give the committee an opportunity to make the festival even bigger and better than before, Rice said.
“I know this disappoints a lot of our attendees, but we think it best overall for the health and well-being of Excelsior’s business community,” he said. “We want Waterfest to be the fun-filled, family-friendly event that you’ve come to know and love. We think August’s event would disappoint a lot of people, so moving things will help us build on everyone’s expectations.”
