Weatherization Assistance Program available for low-income Missouri residents

Missouri State Governor Mike Parson signed a proclamation declaring Oct. 30 as Weatherization Day in Missouri. Weatherization Day, according to the recent press release, is an opportunity to highlight the impact of the Weatherization Assistance Program, which saves energy, improves the health and safety of homes and supports jobs and small businesses. “The household energy burden for low-income Missourians is typically nearly 9% of their total annual budget,” read the proclamation. “In some areas of Missouri, depending on location and income, energy burden can be as high as 30%, and while the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is vital and necessary to help households pay for high energy expenses, the Weatherization Assistance Program permanently reduces a households energy expense by making homes more energy efficient.” The Weatherization Assistance program is designed to include methods including air sealing, attic, sidewall, floor, foundation, pipe or duct insulation,…
