Progress described in preparing school for fall opening

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – There is a flurry of activity at Cornerstone Elementary as construction crews work to get the new facility open for the 2021-2022 school year, Superintendent Dan Hoehn reported March 8 to district leaders. “It looks like a shopping center, there are so many cars there working on it – which is great,” he said. Crews painted the interior and installed metal paneling, Hoehn said. To provide further project details, he invited two people working on Cornerstone, Patrick Smith and Scott Mead, to participate in a Zoom call. Smith is office director and client leader for the project architect, Incite Design LLC’s Kansas City office. Mead is project manager with Newkirk Novak Construction Partners, the Lenexa, Kansas-based company overseeing the project.
