JEFFERSON CITY – Seeing lawmakers in masks, especially when tax dollars and budgeting are mentioned, might draw raised eyebrows and snide comments at other times, but not in the age of the coronavirus, COVID-19. Rep. Peggy McGaugh and Sen. Denny Hoskins joined the overwhelming majority of lawmakers who returned briefly to Jefferson City last week to vote on the supplemental budget. They did so with a focus on safety for themselves and others who worked to prevent the virus from spreading. McGaugh explained how staff and lawmakers handled getting into the Capitol and then voting. “The representatives were met at the entry door in the House parking garage with a group of medical professionals who ask us a list of questions about our current health status, as well as history of being around anyone affected with the virus, before taking our temperature,” she said. “We then could proceed to the House post office, where two masks were placed in our individual mailboxes to use for our…
