William Jewell coach shares blueprint for organizational success

From accountability to culture, this month’s Excelsior Springs Lunch and Learn examined the principles behind building successful organizations.

William Jewell College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Chris McCabe served as the featured speaker during the recent event at The Co-op, where he introduced attendees to his “McCabe Method,” a leadership approach rooted in lessons learned through collegiate athletics.

McCabe began by explaining his philosophy extends beyond preparing athletes to compete, focusing instead on creating an environment where relationships continue long after players leave the program.

“I think anybody with a baseline of knowledge can coach a team,” said McCabe. “I do not believe everyone can build a program. Those are two different things, and I’ve always taken this approach when I’ve looked at it from an organizational perspective. How do I want my behaviors to influence the people that I have?”
