Willow Spring Mercantile, with its beautiful facade, eclectic wine cellar bistro, and expansive offerings of local wines and unique gifts, was named among the Top 10 Best Wine Bars in Missouri.

The list highlights the things that make Willow Spring Mercantile one of Missouri’s best. Among the reasons is the business’s commitment to highlight and promote local Missouri goods, as well as its amazing hospitality.

Owners Jim and Daphne Bowman are pleased with the inclusion of their business in the top 10, although Daphne says her daughter teasingly points out that the Mercantile isn’t actually a “wine bar.” Instead it’s a “retail wine boutique,” Daphne shared. But the business receives a lot of additional recognition because they showcase “100 percent Missouri wines, distilled spirits, and craft beers,” Daphne said, which makes them unique.

Right now, Willow Spring Mercantile is offering a holiday selection of seasonal wines such as plum and cranberry, in addition to their normal selection.

Whether recognized as a wine bar or wine boutique, the Bowmans say the Mercantile is honored to be included in a list that celebrates so many great wine bars in Missouri, many of which they have visited themselves.

Willow Spring Mercantile is located at 249 E. Broadway Ave. in downtown Excelsior Springs. Opened in October 2005, the Mercantile prides itself on its warmth, with an open invitation to come and see them anytime.  As they say on their website, “The wine is always pouring and the coffee’s always on.”
