Winter driving safety tips from MoDOT

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) recently released winter driving safety tips for motorists to be aware of when heading out onto the snowy streets. According to www.Modot.org, drivers should pay special attention to safety when driving on snowpacked and iced-over roadways. MoDOT advises those traveling in winter weather to winterize their vehicle by adding fresh antifreeze and ensuring their battery is in good condition, as well as checking to ensure the exhaust system is in operable condition and oil that can withstand the colder temperatures. It is also advised that all motorists conduct a “thorough pre-trip inspection to their vehicle and pay special attention to tires, breaks, windshield wipers and windshield wiper fluid,” stated MoDOT’s webpage.
