District picks Cornerstone preview date
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Board of Education members got a sneak preview of Excelsior Springs’ new elementary school Tuesday.
Scott Mead led board members through Cornerstone, slated to open in the 2021-2022 school year. Mead is project manager with Newkirk Novak Construction Partners, the Lenexa, Kansas-based company overseeing the project.
Superintendent Dan Hoehn announced the tours during the Board of Education’s May 10 meeting. Hoehn also announced a Cornerstone ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for 9 a.m. July 27, with an open house for the public scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Aug. 16.
“Guys, the place is amazing,” he said. “It is just top-shelf. It is coming along real well. … It’s just what we want, I think, as a district. It’s not over-the-top crazy; but it’s got innovation, it’s got good … (lighting). It’s bright. I think it’s a place where kids will want to come learn.”
