WARRENSBURG – Like many Missourians, Denny Hoskins did not go into work last week. Neither did Peggy McGaugh. Speaking from his Warrensburg residence, Sen. Hoskins said COVID-19 presented challenges for lawmakers who had to pass a supplemental budget. “We want to observe social distancing,” he said. McGaugh said House members presented a $413 million supplemental budget before the virus struck hard in Missouri. Concern later arose about when lawmakers would return to the Capitol. “I have no doubt that we will (return to) pass the supplemental budget,” she said. On April 7, Senate members returned to approve changes to the supplemental budget, almost all of which, $5.1 billion, is federal money. House and Senate members, almost all wearing protective masks, gave final approval to what grew to a roughly $6 billion measure April 8 to send to Gov. Mike Parson.
