Judge denies bond increase for Haslett
Timothy M. Haslett Jr. appeared in custody at Clay County Courthouse earlier this week for a bond hearing after the remains of Jaynie Crosdale, a potential witness, were found in Saline County.
In his request for an increased bond, Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson presented evidence to the court of Crosdale being in Haslett’s residence before his arrest.
Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Alisha O’Hara presided.
“My client has been in custody since 2022 and has no job,” Haslett’s public defender Tiffany Leuty Winningham argued. “His bond is already set a $3 million, he will not be going anywhere.”
After advising that Haslett had been declared indigent and that no additional charges had been filed, Judge O’Hara said while the circumstances surrounding Crosdale’s death are concerning, there has been no change in the charges and the current bond is appropriate.
